Happy Eyes
The experience of being drawn to something is special, even if you don’t know why you are.
One of the things I remember most about myself as a kid was that I kept scrapbooks. I filled them with different things at different ages. There was a flower phase, a tablescape phase, an impressionist painting phase, a style phase… well, I guess I’m still in all of these phases. The first line I use to describe this newsletter is “beauty is your birthright,” and I really believe that’s true. There’s something so valuable about knowing what’s beautiful to you. It feels like a way of knowing yourself. The experience of being drawn to something is special, even if you don’t know why you are.
It feels especially important to discover beautiful things off social because algorithms have taken away the discovering part. You can feel the difference right? Everything the algorithm serves me looks a bit too similar. Happy Eyes is my way of bringing discovery back. It’s a continuation of my scrapbooking days. I include sources whenever possible but some images are pulled from my decades old folders so excuse the ones missing! Enjoy!
